Students to National Conference
2021 Students to National Conference
The call for dedicated, caring family doctors in Wisconsin is more important now than ever before as there are growing concerns about the future workforce. In an effort to engage and educate medical students about the opportunities in family medicine, the WAFP-Foundation is aiming to send 50 students to the 2021 National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.
We all know the importance of this project in ensuring a strong future for family medicine in Wisconsin. As an academy, we have a significant influence in determining the success of this campaign. In seven years of supporting this program, we have provided funding for 361 students to attend the National Conference, and 73% of those students have matched in Family Medicine. That is an incredible return on investment!
But our mission doesn’t end here! If you would like to contribute towards the Foundation's goal, any amount that you wish to donate is appreciated, and we have created several levels of tax-deductible gifting to help the WAFP-Foundation send a student to the national conference.

2020 Students to National Conference
Thank you to all those who helped support the 2020 Send a Student Campaign. Because of your generosity, WAFP – Foundation raised $14,850, offering 50 students (25 for MCW and 25 for UW) scholarships to attend AAFP’s 2020 Virtual National Conference. Virtual registration was $130 per student to participate, rather than $600. Due to the unique year, 12 students were funded by WAFP – Foundation. In total, 30 Wisconsin students were funded by AAFP and overall 53 Wisconsin students and residents attended National Conference. Sending students to the National Conference is a cornerstone for the Foundation. The remaining funds from this year will be applied to the 2021 Students to National Conference. Attendees of the 2020 National Conference for Family Medicine Resident and Student Delegates give thanks to the donors that made their opportunity possible.
